WELCOME TO KUMU KAHUA THEATRE!

WE'RE FOLLOWING ALL RECOMMENDED SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND ASK FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND FULL COOPERATION.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND PATIENCE, UNDERSTANDING, AND KOKUA AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO DO THIS!

Foremost, if you have a fever, don't feel well, or have any reason to believe you might have been exposed to COVID-19, please let us know and we'll happily refund or transfer your ticket to another performance or production. Please also understand that our staff, volunteers, technicians, and actors are asked to stay home if they experience any concerns about their health, so it is possible that weʻll be short-staffed when you visit us, or we may need to postpone performances. We'll keep you informed, and will do all that we can to make it up to you.

Our house will still open 30-minutes prior to showtime, but our box office and entry verification station will open 60-minutes prior to showtime. We all know there's some rigamarole to go through and your early arrival will help assure that we're able to start our performances on time.

When you arrive, you must provide proof of vaccination and identity (even if you've pre-registered your vaccination card with us, you'll still need your ID), pass a temperature check, and answer a brief questionnaire. Upon completion of those steps, you'll receive a bracelet that will be required to enter the building.  Everyone but actors must wear a mask at all times inside the building (actors are exempt from the mask mandate while actively performing). Please note that if any audience member removes their mask, we will stop the performance until the situation is resolved. If you must remove your mask, please exit the building immediately.

During intermission, we will sell concessions on our lanai for your enjoyment. No concessions will be allowed inside the building. You may bring your own cup for water and take advantage of our water cooler. (We do not sell water, but you may have it for free if you bring your own cup!)

Two people will be allowed in our bathrooms at a time. For this reason, our intermissions may run a little longer than usual. Our volunteers and staff will help direct a queue to assure efficiency as much as possible.

When you enter the theatre, you will be directed where to sit, and we'll accommodate your preferences as much as possible (whether you love the front row, middle, or back). We'll do this first-come-first-serve, so remember that an early arrival works in your favor more than ever. If you require special seating accommodations, please call the box office ahead of time so we can arrange your seating in advance.

Please be sure to provide up to date email and phone number when purchasing your tickets so we will be able to reach you if there are any changes in our schedule, or - heaven forbid - we need to inform you of possible exposure while visiting us. We will notify you by email first and ask for your receipt confirmation. We will then call all those who have not confirmed receipt.

Please note, prior to the pandemic, we received an upgraded ventilation/air conditioning system at Kumu Kahua Theatre. It efficiently pumps air in and out via the rooftop vents, and the state keeps a regular schedule of filter changes. The ventilation system for the theatre is separate from the dressing room and office, where we have separate air filtration for our actors and staff.

It's been awhile since we've seen you in person, so here are some reminders for you:

  • Harbor Court (directly makai of the theatre) is our favorite parking garage to recommend. They charge a flat rate of only $3 for evening and weekend parking. The entrance is on Bethel Street.

  • When you walk up to our building beside the little pocket park on Merchant Street, you'll see our door in the mauka corner, our box office window to the left of that, and our check-in table to the left of that. Whether you have already purchased a ticket or not, please queue up for the check-in table first (the line may go across the lanai on the street-side of the building). You may then proceed to the box office to pick up or purchase your tickets.

  • Balancing the temperature inside the theatre is always a little tricky because stage lights are bright and hot, and our space is relatively intimate. We err on the side of keeping everyone cool.  For this reason, you may wish to bring a sweater or jacket.

  • Because the audience entrance is the same as the actors' entrance during the performance, we cannot allow late seating. Please respect this safety measure and give yourself plenty of time to arrive early. If you arrive after the performance has begun, please visit our box office to make arrangements to see a subsequent performance.

  • During the performance, if you need to leave the theatre for any reason, please do so quietly and safely; one of our volunteers or a staff member will be near the exit to assist you. You will be able to return to your seat during intermission or after the performance.

MAHALO FOR YOUR COOPERATION!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN SOON AT KUMU KAHUA THEATRE!
